I
Why SAMYA exists
Arbitration was meant to be the faster path to resolve a dispute.
Every month a dispute stays undecided, its remedy loses value.
Too often it has been undone by loose administration, unproven notices, hurried records and awards that collapse on challenge.
II
The SAMYA distinction
A tribunal decides well only when it understands both the business behind a dispute and the law that governs it. SAMYA brings both.
From banking, construction, insurance, technology, trade and other fields, who knows the practices and documents of that world.
A retired judge or judicial officer, who holds the proceedings and the award to the Act and to natural justice.
This amalgamation secures both the subject matter of the dispute and its integrity under the Act.
On a three-member tribunal, both sit. In a sole-arbitrator reference, the second expertise supports the tribunal as the Act permits, never deciding for it. Section 10 Section 26
III
Where SAMYA is headed
In the near term
- A Retail Finance Disputes Wing that banks and NBFCs rely on, judged by the speed and durability of its awards.
- A Panel in both divisions across India’s principal commercial centres.
- Commercial and international arbitrations, seated in India and heard wherever the parties are.
- Readiness for institutional grading under Part IA of the Act, before it arrives.
In the long term
An institution that Indian and foreign parties alike choose for their disputes.

Founder and governance
Praveen Kumar Atmakur, Founder, brings more than twenty years of cross-border business leadership between India, Germany and Europe, across automotive engineering, railway and metro systems, mergers and acquisitions, and profit-and-loss responsibility in executive roles. He holds a degree in law (LLB) and a Master of Science in Engineering, and has completed the UNCITRAL course on International Commercial Arbitration (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, 2024).
The Institute is organised as a limited liability partnership and governed by these principles:
- administration and adjudication are kept apart: the Institute administers, and only the tribunal decides;
- no arbitrator acts without written disclosure under Section 12, and the Institute keeps a record of every disclosure;
- every reference is confidential to the parties and the tribunal, save as Section 42A permits;
- every procedural step is placed on the record, so that each award can be traced to the procedure that produced it.

Technology: ARBITRA
Every arbitration administered or facilitated by the Institute, whether conducted online, in person or in hybrid form, runs on ARBITRA, an automated Arbitration Operating System.
The Institute supplies legal judgment and independence. ARBITRA keeps every period computed, every notice tracked to delivery, and every filing, order and record of hearing on a single time-stamped file, so that expedition never comes at the cost of accuracy or confidentiality.
